Weather on Denali - Yikes!

From Stu

Just so no one is under an illusions about the trip ahead - here is a little look into our weather for the week ahead!
This is from among a number of excellent weather sources we will be using including

Understanding what the weather will be like on a particular day at a particular altitude given the reports below takes some practice and some effort. The wind direction and speed, precipitation and cloud cover are core elements that we take into consideration but a crucial aspect of successful predictions is comparison of predictions to on-site experience and at this time we have no one to confirm the weather at C4!

Looks like  a lot of snow at this time so we may land and simply dig out our tents for two weeks and come home! We'll see!

Park Pemit received!

Its official! C2C Denali 2011 has received its permit from the park and we are going!

We are now onto making plans for the trip which include flights to Anchorage, flights from Talkeetna, food and gear purchasing and prep, fitness and skill training and much much more.

We'll be posting our progress so you can follow what it is like to prepare for and climb one of the highest and coldest mountains on earth!

(by the way "C2C" reflects the fact that the nucleus of the trip is two good buddies who live on opposite sides of the USA so "coast to coast" or "sea to sea" both work. pick your favorite!)
